Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, it has been revealed.

Guardiola wanted to sign the Germany international for Bayern Munich, says former club spokesman Markus Horwick.

He told Sky Deutschland: "Rudiger was a big favourite of Guardiola. He already had him on the list when he played for Stuttgart.

"He wanted to go to AS Roma at the time. He had already decided for it. Even though Pep would have been a great influence."

Rudiger is now in his first season at Chelsea after arriving from Roma last summer.
