Ex-Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor offers Smith advice on Bailey

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Dean Smith to use Leon Bailey as a forward.

Villa have reportedly agreed a deal to sign the Bayer Leverkusen winger for £30m.

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor said: "I said this at the end of last season, Villa do need another forward.

"Keinan Davis is a good prospect, Wesley's not going to get the game time and doesn't really offer Villa that pace.

"You can't rely on Watkins to play 38 games and not get injured, it's not fair on him.

"Bailey would be perfect, a top forward. He would add great competition in the squad and would allow Dean Smith to sometimes play two up front.

"It would be a great signing and one that I hope Aston Villa can get through."
