Everton were keen to sign Spurs midfielder Winks, but...

Everton chiefs were turned off by Tottenham's asking price for Harry Winks over the summer.

The Times says Spurs demanded £40million for Winks this summer.

Winks was linked with an exit from Spurs for most of the summer, but was unable to engineer a move away in the end.

His hefty valuation 'discouraged' Everton from making a move in the window.

It remains to be seen as to whether or not the Lilywhite will lower their asking price in the January transfer window.
