Everton ready to beat Newcastle, Leicester for Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson

Everton are eyeing move for Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson.

The Daily Mail says the 21-year-old is at the top of their summer wishlist, along with Burnley defender James Tarkowski.

But an offer for Johnson will be shaped by Forest's fate in this Sunday's Championship play-off final against Huddersfield Town.

Should Forest win then the Wales international will open talks over a new contract with just 12 months to run on his current deal.

There is no guarantee an agreement will be reached, however, and were Forest to lose then his departure would appear likely. A fee in the region of £20million has been mooted.

Everton, like Newcastle, Leicester and Brentford, have watched Johnson this season, during which he has scored 19 times from 50 appearances and was last week named Championship Player of the Year.
