Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson turned down a deadline day move to a Middle Eastern club.
The Athletic claims he was surplus to requirements after the midfield signings made by Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti.
And it appears an offer came from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
However, Sigurdsson is happy at Everton and wants to fight for his place.
It is possible he will leave in January if he does not get enough game time.
A move to the United States with MLS team DC United is a possibility.
