Everton have deal in place for River Plate midfielder Santiago Sosa

Everton have a deal in place for River Plate midfielder Santiago Sosa.

The Daily Mail says Everton have agreed a £13.25m fee with his club River Plate and would look to secure a permit on appeal.

Sosa, a holding midfielder, has attracted interest from Tottenham also.

However, he is due to travel to Merseyside following the U20 World Cup in Poland.

His father Juan Sosa told Tablon Radial in Argentina: "The idea is that once his participation in the U20 World Cup is done, he comes to Buenos Aires and travels to Liverpool to sign his contract, I will accompany him.

"It's not closed because the signature is missing. Santi is missing a work visa, he's going as a young talent.

"The community passport will be obtained by the end of the year. He's spoken to the sports director and manager Silva, he knows him and wants him."
