Everton boss Roberto Martinez is confident of signing Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry.
The Daily Star says Martinez met with Barry before he flew down to Rio.
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is planning talks with representatives of the midfielder whose Manchester City contract has now come to an end.
"Gareth had a great season for us and I know the manager has spoken to him.
"I will meet his people and we are hopeful he will be here next season."
