Everton coach David Weir is confident former Rangers teammate Steven Naismith is Premier League class.

Everton confirmed the signing of Naismith on a four-year deal on Wednesday morning and Weir says fans can expect the newcomer to give his all for the cause.

"He's a good all-round footballer," he explained to evertonfc.com. "He's a fit lad, he works hard - which is obviously a necessity at Everton - he's capable of getting a goal, he's very good in the air and I think he'll be a good signing for us.

"He's a talented lad, he's played to a top level with Rangers in Europe and with Scotland and I think he'll add to the team."

Asked by Moyes to give his thoughts on Naismith, Weir admitted he was only happy to advocate the abilities of his former teammate.

"He [Moyes] obviously asked me my opinion of Steven and I gave him my opinion," he said. "I had nothing but good things to say about him."
