Everton defender Seamus Coleman is confident that the current Republic of Ireland squad can achieve legend status in the country.

The Irish side face Italy in a must-win group game at Euro2016 on Wednesday, and a win in Lille could go a long way in helping Coleman's proclamation come true.

He said: "You look back over the years and you have seen players making names for themselves, making themselves heroes amongst the Irish fans and it's obviously something that you dream about.

"But that's the end-game.

"Hopefully that will be the case, but it's a case of whatever players the manager picks have to go out there and put in the hard graft for the 90 minutes and then the rest will come."

Ireland need a win over the Italians in their final Group E fixture to stand any chance of progressing to the next round at Euro2016.
