Wayne Rooney has denied reports of player unrest in the England camp following the Three Lions' humiliating 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Monday night.
Reports on Tuesday then claimed that senior England players had lost faith in Hodgson's ability to lead the team to victory in France, but Rooney has now insisted there is no truth to such stories.
"In response to recent media reports, I'd like to say that is completely untrue," he said in a statement.
"On behalf of the players, we completely supported the England manager but we understand his reasons for stepping down.
"We had absolute faith in the build-up and throughout the tournament."
