EURO2016: Hodgson urges England players to become more clinical in front of goal

England boss Roy Hodgson has told his goal-shy players they must discover their killer instinct when they face Iceland on Monday in the knock-out stage.

Hodgson told FATV: "The next few days are purely [about] preparation against Iceland and making certain the players know as much as we can tell them about Iceland.

"I fear it won't differ enormously from our group games because Iceland aren't an expansive team. Their success has been built on a very solid defensive organisation and an incredible hard work ethic.

"I know the co-coach Lars Lagerback well — he has always prepared his teams extremely well so I don't think we are going to benefit from lots of space in the game.

"We are going to have to make certain that we are aware of that and hope that we can keep the domination and control we have had in the games but maybe be a little bit more ruthless and have a killer instinct in front of goal because our ratio of creating chances and taking chances is not good.

"That needs to be improved, everyone is aware of that and it would be nice if we can start on Monday."
