Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini gave Joe Hart a chance to prove himself and the England youngster did it with perfection, making a string of top shelf saves to help his side keep a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham.

Aston Villa's first-starter, Marc Albrighton was extremely impressive as his side beat West Ham 3-0 and had plenty of help from Ashley Young up front, whilst Marlon Harewood did the damage as Premier League newcomers Blackpool romped to a 4-0 win over Wigan.

Liverpool wantaway Javier Mascherano was brilliant in his sides 1-1 draw with Arsenal, Gareth Bale was in blistering touch for Tottenham as were Michael Essien and Ashley Cole for Chelsea.

Richard Dunne helped Villa keep a clean sheet whilst Brede Hangeland and Stephen Kelly were solid at the back for Fulham.

Ian Holloway was Manager of the Week after he guided his side to a surprise debut victory in the top flight.
