Former Valencia coach Unai Emery insists his old team is at a disadvantage tonight against Atalanta.
Valencia host La Dea needing to overcome a 4-1 aggregate deficit to reach the Champions League quarterfinals. And making matters worse, says Emery, is that the game will be played at an empty Mestalla due to coronavirus concerns.
Emery said, "Playing with the fans the team could have more options to overcome the 4-1, but it is also true that the motivation is very great. The best chance would be with their public, but they have decided not to do so, although Valencia have the ability to take the game to them (Atalanta).
"You have to have certain past experiences to convince you of the comeback and there are. I was reading this morning from Juan Antonio Pizzi that you have to believe, he has experience, in a case against us (when he was Sevilla coach) he was about to do it, and Valencia can do it, it can be a historic day and Valencia has to face it as such."
