Dutch pundits at odds over Ajax move for Spurs midfielder Bergwijn

Former Twente sports chief Jan van Halst has questioned Ajax's move to Tottenham midfielder Steven Bergwijn.

Ajax failed with a first offer of €15m for Bergwijn on the weekend.

Van Halst told Ziggo Sport: "If you look at Ajax without the Africa Cup, then you have Sébastien Haller, Antony and Dusan Tadic.

"So where will he (Bergwijn) play then? Then he will not play again."

Former Holland star Ronald de Boer, however, insists: "I think he's a good player.

"He has had ups and downs at Tottenham, but he is a boy with potential. Haller is not there (because of the Africa Cup) and of course they have brought Brian Brobbey, but it remains to be seen whether he will deliver.

"You still have Tadic as a striker, but important weeks are coming up. Then you have a good player with Bergwijn, who can also play behind or in the striker."
