Durie backs Tottenham's push for Rangers pair Cuellar, McGregor

Former Tottenham and Rangers striker Gordon Durie believes Gers pair Carlos Cuellar and Allan McGregor could be on their way to White Hart Lane.

"Spurs are a massive club. If you look outside the top four in England, then the next club would probably be Tottenham," Durie said in the Daily Mail. "Now they have a manager in place and he has been given a lot of money to spend.

"Next season will be a big one for them, that's why they're looking for this standard of player.

"It is impossible for Rangers and Celtic to turn down the kind of fees that Spurs can come up with if they really want to buy a player. Wages are in a different league, as well. It shows you the progress McGregor has made over the last wee while that he is now being quoted in a similar price bracket.

"Like the majority of Rangers fans, I hope both McGregor and Cuellar are at Ibrox for the next year or two. But sometimes finances take things out of a club's hands.

"If Rangers get the kind of offers which have been mentioned, then it would prove very difficult for them to turn down."
