DONE DEAL: Monza sign Gomez 'I made a promise to Galliani'

AC Monza have completed the signing of released Sevilla midfielder Papu Gomez.

The Argentina international returns to Italy on a contract with Monza to the end of the season.

The 35 year-old Atalanta legend signed for Monza on Friday after passing his medical.

Gomez said, “I have rejected many proposals from abroad because I was waiting for one from Italy. I feel at home in this country, which is important and I am happy.

“For me the Italian championship has always been among the top three in the world.

“The choice to return here was important, the children will return to the school they had attended before," he added.

Gomez admits Monza GM Adriano Galliani was key to the deal.

“I have a special relationship with Adriano, we have known each other for many years," Gomez told the media.

He continued: “A few years ago, when we were having breakfast in Ibiza, I promised him that I would come to Monza one day. It was destiny."
