Eric Dier faces a battle to win over Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
While Spurs attempted to sell him last summer, the England defender dug in his heels hoping to change the mind of his new manager.
It's been revealed it was chairman Daniel Levy who initiated a meeting with Dier in the final week of the summer market to discuss a move away.
Spurs expert Alisdair Gold is reporting: "It will be interesting to see now, especially if (Cristian) Romero does miss the Sheffield United match, whether 18-year-old Ashley Phillips plays ahead of him - he was chosen on the bench at Burnley ahead of him - or whether Dier returns to the fold.
"For Postecoglou, Dier just doesn't really fit the archetype for one of his centre-backs as he just doesn't have the pace to react to the balls over the top and down the flanks. The experienced defender will have to prove otherwise if he gets a chance. "
