Paolo di Canio's downfall at Sunderland could've been avoided if they had heeded his advice on Tom Huddlestone.

The Guardian says Di Canio repeatedly pleaded with Sunderland chiefs to sign Huddlestone when he became available from Tottenham over the summer.

But the midfielder instead moved to Hull City, where he has kicked off the season in superb form.
