Deschamps shrugs off Klopp complaints over Liverpool defender Konate

France manager Didier Deschamps has responded to criticism of his methods this week.

The legendary coach and former player discussed comments by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The German head coach had criticised how Deschamps used Ibrahima Konate over a recent international break.

Deschamps said at a press conference on Monday: “It must have happened before, and it will happen again at other moments because the situation and interests vary between club managers and national team managers.

“I try and manage them like any manager. When they (club managers) have weeks with three games, they can manage them a bit more. Us, we have a gathering, two games."

“He felt something in his hamstring," added Deschamps on Konate's fitness.

"He had tests, but it's not serious. He needs a bit of time to not take any risks. It's an area where he already has an injury. It wasn't in his interest or mine (to call him up). In the best case scenario, he could only have been available for training on Friday or Saturday."
