Depay admits defying Man Utd, PSV to play final season games

Memphis Depay defied both PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United by playing in the final game of the Eredivisie season.

After Depay's sale to United was settled, De Telegraaf says it was agreed between the two clubs that he would not participate in the final games of the campaign so to avoid the risk of injury.

But Depay was having none of it. The youngster wanted to help PSV win the title and also to finish the season with the Golden Boot.

"I wanted to play. I was super happy to do so. For the coach it was not a big issue," said the Dutchman.

"The players were happy. But PSV and Manchester United were not pleased. They both wanted me not to think about playing because of injuries."
