Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has dropped plans of signing a new goalkeeper.

The Daily Star says he has shelved plans to sign a new No.1 goalkeeper following the return to form of David De Gea.

Manchester United boss Fergie has been keeping close tabs on Stoke's Asmir Begovic this season.

Fergie was pondering a summer move for Begovic following doubts over De Gea after an erratic first season at Old Trafford following his £18m switch from Atletico Madrid.

But De Gea's superb form in recent months has persuaded Fergie he does not need to recruit a new stopper.
