David Silva banking on tight Premier League finish for Man City

Manchester City playmaker David Silva believes this year's Premier League title race could go right down to the wire.

City, who currently sit in third place in England's top flight, were crowned Premier League Champions on the final day of the season in both 2012 and 2014.

Silva believes this campaign is set for a similarly dramatic finish what with Arsenal and Leicester City both ahead of City on the current standings.

"You never know - it's happened in the past, hasn't it?" Silva said.

"I hope it's us who are successful in winning the title. Obviously it would be nice if it was settled a little bit before the end of the season. But if it has to come down to the last game of the season, then so be it.

"It's been a very exciting season and, above all, it's very tight at the top. It's going to be a close-run thing right through until the end of the season. Each game is tough, it always is, but somehow this year it's even tougher, especially away from home.

"You can lose at any moment when you least expect it. It's about being competitive until the end of the season and being in the fight until the end.

"There are lots and lots of games with a packed fixture calendar and it's harder to win games against every level of team in the league. That's the key - people have made good signings to improve their squads and strengthen."
