Roy Hodgson asserted that Crystal Palace's loss to Everton was not down to Wilfried Zaha's absence.
The Eagles slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park without Zaha, who was missing through a knee injury.
"We didn't lose because we were lacking players because the XI was a good XI but we lost because we were punished for the defensive mistakes we made," Hodgson said.
"It was not because we were totally outplayed and not because Zaha did not play."
