Bolton boss Gary Megson has warned his side they are in danger of becoming embroiled in a relegation battle unless they can curb their slide. On Saturday they were thumped 5-1 at Aston Villa in a dire performance.

"The Villa game was as bad as we have been for two years," he told the Bolton Evening News.

"At the moment we are averaging a point a game and if we carry on like that we'll be flirting with the relegation zone.

"We have got to start shaping ourselves against the sides we are going to be in and around throughout the season. We are where we are and we have to improve on it."
