CSKA Moscow through to round of 16

CSKA Moscow progressed through to the final 16 in the Champions League after defeating Besiktas 2-1 in Turkey on Tuesday night.

The Russians hit the front in the 41st minute through Serbian international Milos Krasic before Besiktas' Bobo got his side back on level terms with just four minutes remaining.

With a point from a draw enough for Moscow to progress, they were keen for a win and pushed forward to score late in the piece.

In injury time, Yevgeny Aldonin fired home from a tight angle enabling the visitors to take home all three points.

Besiktas coach Mustafa Denizli rued a missed opportunity from Rodrigo Tello in the 12th minute and said it summed up the Turkish club's time in the competition this season.

"The Tello goal-scoring opportunity was a decisive moment, because we would have been in control if we went ahead," said Denizli.

"If you look at our campaign, we had five matches where we created chances were we could have won."
