Crystal Palace are planning a major January offer for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher has endured a rocky start to the season and was sent off in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Leicester City last weekend.

He returned to Chelsea's starting line-up for Saturday's win over West Ham but competition for places is strong in their midfield.

The Sun says Palace will try to sign Gallagher permanently in January if they can secure a deal for around £20million - plus add-ons.

Gallagher scored eight goals and registered five assists in 39 appearances for Palace during last season's loan.

His form earned him a maiden first England call-up last November and he made his debut in a World Cup qualifier against San Marino.

Gallagher will want to push for a place in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad but will need to play regularly for Chelsea.
