Crystal Palace midfielder Lokonga: Man City defeat tough to take

Crystal Palace midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga says that he and his side can improve in the coming weeks.

The London outfit may have felt unlucky to lose to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

An Erling Haaland penalty decided the contest, which was fairly even for 90 minutes.

The 23-year-old, on loan from Arsenal, told Palace TV: “It's a difficult one to take [against City], because if you look at the way we conceded, it's a tough one, but we need to make sure it doesn't happen again.

“I think we did well defensively. With the ball, we tried to attack the back. We were compact and we worked well as a team, so that was good, but we lost and that's just what matters unfortunately.

“We were in the right positions. We were finding the right spaces, but it's just the end product that we need to work on.

“It's always difficult to play against them [City]. You need to be tight because, they're really good if you give them space. They're good players so we needed to be careful every time and every moment."

Speaking about his loan move, he added: “I'm really happy. You can see on the pitch I try to help my teammates as much as I can and I try to bring something they don't have.

“I'm really happy with the team. We have really good players, but we need to try to push to get to the next level.

“Especially after the run we are on now, we need to try to get a win, but it's going to start when we get back on the training ground."
