Crystal Palace have reportedly opened talks with Stuttgart regarding defender Georg Niedermeier.

It is believed that the Eagles are in discussions over a £750,000 move for the 29-year-old centre-back who comes out of contract in the summer.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew is looking to bring in cover for the ageing Brede Hangeland while strengthening his squad as they press for a European spot.

Niedermeier has been with Stuttgart since 2009 after beginning his career at Bayern Munich.
