Crystal Palace goalkeeper Remi Matthews has thrown his weight behind his manager.

The London club are sliding down the Premier League table and lost 2-1 to Liverpool at the weekend.

With veteran boss Hodgson in danger of the sack if results do not improve, Matthews believes the manager is not the problem.

“A much better performance", said Matthews of the game against the Reds.

“We knew what we had to do, from first minute to last we were excellent.

“It shows that everyone is with the manager.

“The manager has been brilliant. This is the first season I've been with him — I was on loan [at St Johnstone] last year. He has been excellent, and nobody will say anything different."
