Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew wants Shola Ameobi to sign a new contract with the club.

The 33-year old Nigerian forward joined the Eagles from Turkish club Gaziantep in January and is out of contract at the end of the month but according to Sky Sports, Pardew is eager for him to remain at Selhurst Park for at least another season.

Newcastle United great Ameobi made just four substitute appearances for Palace last term but Pardew wants him as a squad player to provide depth to the current attacking stock of Glenn Murray, Dwight Gayle, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Chamakh and Fraizer Campbell.
