Crystal Palace boss Vieira admits Olise pushing for regular start

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira admits Michael Olise is pushing for a regular start.

Olise scored a brilliant equaliser and then set up the winner for Jean-Philippe Mateta as Palace came from behind at half-time to win 2-1 in the FA Cup at Millwall on Saturday.

Eberechi Eze also impressed on his first start since May and Vieira said: “Their job is to make it difficult for me and when you look at the way both of them played, I will have a difficult decision to make in the next couple of weeks.

“Michael's performance shows the fantastic potential in the player, but at the same time he needs to keep developing himself."

With Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Olise is pushing to start for Palace against rivals Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Friday night.

Vieira said: “I think having Jordan at the Africa Cup of Nations, it will give him [Olise] obviously more time to play in the Premier League. We know how good he can be and now what is important for us is to work together to improve that talent.

“All the players are impatient. They all want to play and this is what I like about Michael and about Eze. They want to be on the field and want to play."
