Mark Hughes has admitted his delight in managing to sign Peter Crouch to a new deal with Stoke City.
The veteran centre-forward penned a two-year contract extension this week, meaning he will remain at the Britannia Stadium until the summer of 2017.
Crouch was the subject of interest from a couple of Premier League clubs in the lead-up to his new deal but Hughes was thrilled to secure him in a Potters shirt for the foreseeable future.
"I'm sure there was interest in him (from other clubs), but it never progressed to any great degree because I think Peter himself intimated to anyone he talked to that it was his hope he would be offered something here allowing him to stay," said Hughes.
"Thankfully, that is what we have been able to do."
Crouch joined Stoke from Tottenham in the summer of 2011 and has since scored 36 goals in 140 appearances for the Staffordshire outfit.
