Certainly, according to searches on Bing by fans this month, the Euros is emerging as the breakout tournament for the Welshman.

Microsoft's Bing has analysed millions of searches since the Euros began to find out who and what is making an impact and causing the nation to search to find out more.

Man of the moment Bale comfortably outstripped Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, of Portugal, in terms of the number of times that he has been searched for since the Championships began two weeks ago. Showing that they really are hot property, Bale's girlfriend Emma Rhys-Jones is also the most searched for WAG.

Speaking about the search findings, Bing's Head of Consumer Marketing Kevin Stagg said: “We love to take a snapshot of the millions of searches on Bing and see who and what is trending, it really shows what is on the nation's mind, and who and what we want to know more about.

"What's interesting is just how far ahead Gareth Bale is in terms of the most searched-for player, and his girlfriend is no different – they really are the golden couple of the moment ahead of the Vardys and Rooneys."
