Crewe Alexandra have offered coaching terms to goalkeeper Steve Phillips.
The Sentinel says manager Steve Davis is determined to keep the former Bristol Rovers man as his number one for the higher division.
Phillips, who has been at Gresty Road for two-and-a-half years, has been coaching Academy goalkeepers at Premier League giants Liverpool.
And Davis said: "I spoke to Steve before he went away on holiday and we've offered him a coaching role which fits in with the Elite Player Performance Plan.
"He's fully committed to coaching keepers, that's what he wants to do with his future, and at Crewe we can give him the opportunity to do that now."
