Lochhead is currently on trial with the club but unable to play in matches and missed yesterday's friendly against Hibs.

"We're having a look at him, we feel it's an area where we're quite inexperienced and our cover is inexperienced so it's something we're looking at," Southgate said.

"He's an international player, a fit lad and a good character."
