Laws insists Sheffield Wednesday job secure

Brian Laws has rubbished suggestions he is on borrowed time at Sheffield Wednesday following The Owls' worst ever start to a league campaign.

Wednesday have lost all five of their Championship fixtures so far this season and reports in the national media on Tuesday stated that Owls chairman Dave Allen has lost patience.

"It's a load of nonsense - I've not had that discussion with the chairman," Laws told the Yorkshire Post.

"What I have discussed with the chairman is about how we move forward. There has been no discussion about a 'job' and I think that's what you want to hear."

Laws did reveal though that Allen 'feels a bit of pressure himself' and accepts that if results do not improve quickly then his own position may become untenable.

"Historically, this football club is run by decisions - and obviously the chairman feels a bit of pressure himself, and he will make decisions I'm sure if things aren't going in the right direction," said Laws.

"That's the downside of management and that's the downside of football but, while I'm here, I will give everything to the football club and everything to the players.

"I believe that we will turn it around pretty quick."
