Brown signs new Blackburn contract

Blackburn's Welsh international goalkeeper Jason Brown has signed a new contract at Ewood Park.

The former Gillingham shot-stopper has agreed to extend his stay at the club until 2011 despite finding first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Brown joined Rovers in the summer of 2006 but has found it virtually impossible to dislodge first choice keeper Brad Friedel and has made just one substitute appearance in the last 18 months.

He did make an immediate impression during his solitary chance to shine though, saving a penalty just moments after his introduction as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Wigan last season.

Many players would have become frustrated by the lack of action by now, but Brown has decided to remain loyal to the club which brought him into the Premier League and has committed his long-term future to Mark Hughes' side.
