Conte wants show of ambition from Spurs before committing to new deal

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will not be rushed into signing a new contract.

The London Evening Standard says the 53-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, albeit with an option to extend by another year.

Tottenham and Conte are thought to have been in talks on a new deal for the accomplished Italian's services.

Spurs are expected to be ready to tempt Conte into committing his long-term future to the north London club through a pay rise.

Conte is likely to wait to see how Tottenham fare in next month's transfer window, to gauge the club's continued ambitions.

Spurs forced their way to fourth place in the Premier League table ahead of the World Cup break, but will now face the challenge of quickly assimilating all their players ahead of the league's restart
