Columbus Crew signs draft selection Bedell

Columbus Crew have signed 2014 MLS SuperDraft selection Adam Bedell.

The Crew took the 22-year old forward in the third round of January's draft, using pick number 45, and have now issued him with a professional contract.

"Adam is a strong, tall target forward that gives additional depth this season," said Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter in a statement.

"We drafted him because we felt he would make a strong addition to the team and we were pleased with his effort throughout this preseason that secured his spot on our roster."

Bedell enjoyed a successful four-year college stint with the University of Detroit Mercy, scoring 23 goals and recording 22 assists, before linking up with the Crew for preseason training earlier this year.
