Manchester City's Joe Hart felt Gael Clichy's sending off in Tuesday night's Champions League loss to Barcelona was extremely harsh.
The French left-back was shown a red card in the 74th minute for a foul on Dani Alves, his second yellow card, in City's 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in the Round of 16 first leg of Europe's premier club competition.
It was the third time in three European clashes that Premier League champions City have had a man sent from the pitch against Barcelona and Hart believes it may have cost he and his teammates at least a draw.
"It seems to be standard procedure for us against Barcelona," he told Sky Sports News HQ.
"Very harsh with the sendings off.
"The ref has to make decisions, he has made them tonight, we are obviously not happy with them, but we have moved forward and stayed in the game.
"With 11 men I am sure we would have put a lot more pressure on their goal but we go to the Nou Camp a goal behind."
Martin Demichelis was sent off when City lost 2-0 at home in the Round of 16 first leg last season while Pablo Zabaleta saw red for two bookable offences in the 2-1 defeat at Camp Nou in the return bout.
