Chicago Fire are reportedly in pursuit of Bologna striker Daniele Paponi and could have him on trial soon.
It is suggested that Fire head coach Frank Klopas has enquired about 23-year old Paponi and he could head to the USA this week to train with the MLS club.
The Fire are in desperate need of a goalscorer, having netted just three goals in four matches so far this season, and former Italy U20 international Paponi could be that man although his scoring record in his homeland is not too special.
Someone who does have a special scoring record is Juventus veteran Alessandro Del Piero, who continues to be linked with a MLS move, but Fire director Brendan Hannan told Tuttomercatoweb.com that the club will not go after the 37-year old.
"Del Piero? We pull out of the race
.," he said.
