A former Chelsea star is said to have returned to the club this summer as a free agent.

Ex-Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand, who did not play a single game last season due to injury issues, left Leicester City in the summer.

Per The Mail, the 2012 Champions League winner is back at the Stamford Bridge club's training ground.

Per Fabrizio Romano, he is training with the Chelsea development group at present.

There are no plans for the Blues to sign Bertrand to a short or long term deal this summer.

He is merely an ex-player who is being welcomed back and given a place to train and get fit.
