Chelsea surprised Oscar with early transfer agreement

Chelsea were determined to close a deal for Internacional midfielder Oscar before the London Games kicked off.

The Daily Star Sunday says Chelsea rushed through the £25million signing of Brazil midfielder Oscar from Internacional last week.

The Champions League winners wanted to ensure there would be no late competition for Oscar, 20.

He claimed last weekend that he had met the Chelsea doctor but wanted to concentrate on the Olympics and would decide on his future.

In the meantime, Chelsea had applied for a work permit, which was processed last week - earlier than expected.

The Stamford Bridge club then acted quickly to add Oscar to Roberto Di Matteo's squad in readiness for the new campaign.
