Chelsea reach UYL knockouts after Zenit draw

Chelsea drew 1-1 at Zenit St Petersburg in the final game of their UEFA Youth League game.

The result in sub-zero temperatures see Chelsea reach the playoff round of the competition.

The young Blues knew a point would be enough to seal second spot in Group H and Alfie Gilchrist's header early in the second half proved enough for Andy Myers's youngsters, despite the concession of an equaliser 15 minutes later.

The freezing weather, with snow coating the city of St Petersburg, combined with the team's unusual preparation in not training on the day prior to the game due to the long travel, made it a challenging contest for both teams on the day.
