Chelsea are on the brink of signing Lille defender Gabriel.

The Daily Star says Blues boss Frank Lampard wants to bring in four players in the next transfer window.

A centre-back takes precedent but there is also a great urge to get a striker, a winger and a left-back in.

The club already has targets in mind for the other positions but in defence it proved trickier.

That is until now, with Eurosport's Manu Lonjon reporting that the Blues are close to beating Everton to the signing of Lille star Gabriel.
