Chelsea now stronger after slow start - Matic

Nemanja Matic suggests Chelsea are now looking and feeling a lot more confident after getting their season back on track.

The reigning Premier League champions had won just one and lost three of their first five matches of the season before taking on Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League last week.

Jose Mourinho's men saluted 4-0 on that occasion before backing up with a 2-0 home win over London rivals Arsenal in the league on Saturday and as a result, midfielder Matic believes there is now a much more positive feeling around the place.

"The game was important to win, to get some more confidence," he told Chelsea's official website.

"I can say for myself I'm feeling better. When you win, the feeling is always better.

"We looked better on the pitch, maybe mentally we are stronger. We had more pressure than normal before the game, because we only had four points.

"We recognised the situation, it was time to win. We played like we were one on the pitch and we fought for every ball.

"This is just the beginning."
