Chelsea loanee Aina bags first Hull City goal

Chelsea loanee Ola Aina is hopeful Hull City's 1-0 FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers will help spark a resurgence up the Championship table.

The Nigerian international scored the only goal of the match to help the Tigers qualify for the fourth round.

The win snapped a five game losing streak for Nigel Adkins men, which has condemned them to 21st on the Championship table.

"We definitely needed this win. We've been playing some good football, everyone can see that," Aina told Hull Daily Mail.

"The style of our football is really nice to watch but we just haven't been able to put the finishing touch to it and win the game. It's been the fine details with this team so I feel like this is a step forward again.

"This win was a confidence boost that the team needs and the club needs. Hopefully we can kick on from here. We can't just say that, though, we have to do it."

On scoring his first career goal, he said: "It's an exciting feeling. I'd always wondered when it was going to come and happily it came as the winning goal. I'm really happy.

"I usually sit on the halfway line for corners but Crozza [Andy Crosby] had his little intuition about this game and told me to get up there and see what I could do. Thankfully it paid off."
