Chelsea legend John Terry has left Aston Villa being owed over £500,000 in wages, it has been claimed.
The Times says Terry could be owed £560,000 in wages by cash-strapped Aston Villa if he retires this summer.
The ex-England captain, 37, is out of contract at Villa Park this summer, despite leaving the club in May.
Should Terry retire or remain a free agent, Villa will owe the defender an additional month of wages on his £70,000-a-week packet.
Therefore, the financially-struggling Championship side could owe him June and July pay-packets, worth a princely £280,000-a-pop.
All footballers who are released by a club are entitled to the extra month of pay, thanks to a little-known deal.
The Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee, who represents the Premier League, FA, EFL and PFA - introduced the scheme.
