Chelsea happy with Saul option; plan one more midfield addition

Chelsea management expect big things with Saul Niguez after signing him from Atletico Madrid.

The London Evening Standard says Chelsea have full faith he can offer something different to the players already at the club and believe they have landed a major coup with his £30m option.

Despite his arrival, the report adds that N'Golo Kante is set for a new contract having played a pivotal role in their run to the Champions League under manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Frenchman has two years remaining on his current deal and is set to be rewarded for his fine form.

Even with such a rich array of talents, it is reported that a central midfielder could still be a priority next summer, along with signing a new central defender.

Declan Rice has long been on Chelsea's radar and with the West Ham star rejecting approaches for a new contract himself, there is a feeling he could be made available next summer.

Along with the England international, Monaco youngster Auerlien Tchouameni is another player that could be signed, with the 21-year-old earning rave reviews for his performances both at club level and for France.
