Chelsea captain Terry England's best centre-back - Redknapp

Former Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp believes John Terry is still the best English centre-back in the game.

The 34-year-old played every minute of the Blues' Premier League and Capital One Cup winning campaign and his impressive form for the club earned him a new 12-month deal in March.

Terry produced a stunning campaign for Jose Mourinho just a a couple of years after Rafael Benitez suggested his overall output was diminishing as he aged, which Redknapp highlighted.

Writing on Kicca.com, Redknapp said: "I saw that John Terry feels he can play at the top level for another two seasons and I have to say I agree with him.

"He's a one-off, a fantastic player and a real professional. He's a great leader, great organiser, a winner. He's been so important to Chelsea, he's an amazing player.

"He played every game last season, which was tremendous considering a couple of seasons ago people were starting to write him off.

"Rafa, when he was Chelsea boss, said Terry was no longer able to play every game and last season proved him wrong.

"Jose knows just how important Terry is both on the pitch and in the dressing room and for me he's still the best English centre-half."
